  • Custom Floor Overview

Custom floors include any floor that is not designed for the following vehicles and does not use one of our standard PEX exit points (front driver, rear driver, rear passenger).

    Standard Vehicles:

    • Sprinter 144, 170, 170 ETX

    • Transit 148, 148 EL

    • Promaster 159, 159 ETX

    Reasons to Consider

You may want to consider opting for a custom floor if you:

    • Need to route the PEX around an embedded structure such as a seat or a shower pan.

    • Want to embed L-Track

    • Have a van layout that does not allow for the three standard PEX exit locations.

    • Want to install a “half” Smartfloor for another row of seating, but want a more insulated and sound deadened option with a flat, sturdy surface to fasten cabinetry systems.

    • Have a vehicle, trailer, tiny home, or off-grid dwelling other than those listed above.

    Custom Design Process

Custom floors require an additional design fee of $400 that is paid in advance. This fee covers the initial design consult, up to two design iterations, and two feedback emails. Any additional changes are charged at our shop hourly.

Ordering Details & Shipping Policies

  • All floors are made to order. We do not offer refunds on made to order items.

  • We ship all floors with insurance.

  • When the floor arrives, you must inspect it for damage caused in transit.

  • If damage has been incurred, you must obtain the delivery driver’s signature stating proof of damage before accepting the shipment. Without this, you cannot file an insurance claim.

  • If there is proper documentation and you wish to file an insurance claim for a damaged item, we file the initial insurance claim. After the claim has been filed, further decisions are at the digression of the shipping company. This can be a lengthy process. Please plan accordingly.

Radiant Heat

The system uses a ¾” fiberglass-reinforced closed cell foam to house the PEX piping and aluminum heat transfer plates. A ¼” overlay is placed on top to provide a smooth surface to accept your finish floor. This overlay is CNC mapped with the positioning of the PEX piping and the aluminum heat transfer plates. These slight engravings allow for builders and DIYers alike to make penetrations through the floor with confidence, mitigating a puncture through the PEX pipe.

Working hard(ly) out of sight.

Improved efficiency and greater coverage allows you to set and forget without worrying about how much energy you are burning through, because you arent. What the system gets you:

  • Cabin air - a fan pushes air over a radiator filling your cabin with warm air that is thermostatically controlled.

  • On demand hot water - utilizing a UL listed double wall heat exchanger you can produce hot water like you would at home with the comfort of knowing your potable water will never be contaminated by your glycol system

  • Engine tap - by tapping into your engine heat using a heat exchanger you can arrive at camp with your system preheated. Your engine coolant and cabin coolant never mix.

  • Radiant floor heat - this heats the thermal mass of your vehicle not just the air. Retaining the heat you produce better than you would otherwise allows you to run the system less hence saving energy.
